“Rock” Folsom with Kindness: Rock Painting
Help us spread the message of kindness in Folsom by painting kindness rocks and then helping us distribute them throughout town. We will provide 2 primed rocks per person ready to paint. Feel free to bring extras. Paint and paint brushes will be available.

Blanche Sprentz Elementary School Landscape Beautification
Show your school pride and help beautify the landscapes at Blanche Sprentz Elementary School by weeding and spreading mulch.  Please bring gloves, shovels, rakes, and a wheelbarrow if you have one.

Blessing in a Backpack: Meal Packing
Blessings in a Backpack assists more than 285 Folsom Cordova elementary school children by sending home five meals and two snacks, each Friday, to help children in households dealing with food shortage issues. Although many children can receive free breakfast and lunch every day of the school year, they go hungry on weekends. Assist with packing the take home meals for Folsom Cordova elementary school children.

*No age requirement

 

BrickDreams LEGO Sorting Event
BrickDreams– a nationally recognized charity based in Folsom– works to bring unused LEGOs to children who have been the victim of domestic violence or abuse. BrickDreams collects unwanted LEGOs, sorts them into empty tennis ball cans, and works  with local state and county agencies in Northern California, including child advocacy groups, police, sheriff, and chaplaincies, to ensure a can is given to a child to keep. 

Volunteers will be needed to 1) sort LEGO, following some basic guidelines, and place them in empty tennis ball cans, 2) sort large LEGO and non-LEGO pieces for donation, and 3) prepare tennis ball cans for use.

*7 years or older with a parent/companion

 

BT Collins Park Pathway Revitalization
BT Collins Park is a shaded and hilly park connected to the beautiful Oak Parkway Trail. Help replace a washed out pathway trail with fresh new materials and decomposed granite)

*No age restrictions, but work will include handling full wheel barrows and spreading material with rakes and shovels up and down some hills

 

Care Packages for the Military
Help support and send love to our troops by organizing, sorting, packing, and mailing hundreds of packages to deployed military service members.

Be apart of the organization at Phillip C. Cohn Park in Folsom, that assists in Tree cage removal.

Food Drive Neighborhood Collection
The Twin Lakes Food Drive will gather food collections from neighborhoods. Teams of volunteers are needed to collect, as well as drivers.

Food Drive: Receive and Sort
Following the neighborhood pick up, the Twin Lakes Food Drive would love for volunteers to assist them in receiving and sorting thousands of pounds of food donations.

Girls Love Mail: Letter Writing
A hand-written letter has the special power to heal. Girls Love Mail collects your hand-written letters of encouragement, bundles them, and sends them, via the caring staff at cancer centers and programs, to women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Every letter is a gift from you to a woman going through a difficult time.

Journey Church Painting Project
Help paint the exterior walls and trim on community meeting buildings on the Journey Church campus. The buildings are used to serve the community, including the Boy Scouts and HART of Folsom, which provides local services for the homeless.

Kemp Park Clean Up
Clean up garbage at Kemp Park and the surrounding streets. Bring a trash picker upper!

Help create little free libraries in Folsom neighborhoods! These little libraries provide books 24/7 and help encourage a love of reading and sense of community.

Natoma Ground-Sluice Mining Cleanup (aka “Chinese” Diggings)
The Natoma Ground Sluice Diggings is a historic site, abandoned and now closed to the public. Help with removal and weeding of the area. Contact project leader for instructions on where to meet. Be cautious as the area is uneven.

*18 or older, in good physical condition
*Wear sturdy boots, long pants, garden gloves and hats

 

Negro Bar: Trail Clean Up
Clean up Negro Bar trails that provide seamless connectivity with Historic Folsom across Lake Natoma. Update Negro Bar history brochures and signage. Link the 170th Anniversary of the establishment of the town Negro Bar to broader efforts to attract and retain high culture amenities throughout the region.

Neighbors Helping Seniors 
Make a difference in your neighborhood with the simple act of kindness by lending a hand to our seniors. This volunteer program provides assistance to help our seniors feel comfortable and safe in their homes.

Parkway / Cohn Park Clean Up

Parkway Drainage Project
Folsom’s 55+ mile trail system is a beloved community asset. Help install drainage lines to keep water from flooding the trail in the rainy season.

Pioneer Village Beautification
Pioneer Village is a living history site dedicated to interpreting the rich stories of Folsom’s past. Help with general landscaping, cleaning, pressure washing, repairing picnic tables, spreading decomposed granite on the ground, dusting and de-webbing Ashland Station, Miner’s Cabin, Caboose and various artifacts.

Placerville & Sacramento Valley Railroad Equipment Cleaning
Help us clean up our train and motorcars to get them all spiffy for the 2019 Folsom Railroad Festival! Volunteers will wash the exterior as well as clean the interior of the train and motorcar equipment. Volunteers must be age 9 and above and wear close toed shoes.

 

Placerville & Sacramento Valley Railroad Hampton Station RailFest Site Preparation
The site for the 2019 Folsom Railroad Festival needs prepping! Volunteers will be weed cutting, raking, rock clearing, and grading dirt in the area. All work will be performed at the tracks across from the Hampton Inn at 155 Placerville Road. All equipment operators must wear hearing and eye protection and pants. Volunteers must be age 9 and above and wear close toed shoes and gloves.

 

Powerhouse Ministries Facility Interior Painting
Powerhouse Ministries provides an opportunity to leave addiction and homelessness behind forever and embark on a journey to a new life. Paint hallways, a meeting room, and an office area that has become marked and scratched after years of extensive use. The work involves taping off doors, baseboards, and cabinets, as well as painting.

*Ages 12-14, accompanied by parent

Re-stain Folsom Kids Play Park Playground
Come out to Folsom Kids Play Park to help give the playground new life. Volunteers will be staining the existing structures.

Snowline Hospice Thrift Shop Support  

Help the Snowline Hospice Thrift store hang clothes, arrange merchandise, and sweep both the front and back parking lots. All proceeds from Snowline Hospice Thrift Shop help support Snowline Hospice’s mission to support patients near end-of-life as well as guiding loved ones through grief.

 

Trail Stenciling
Come join the City of Folsom Parks and Rec to stencil city trails with “Walk Left” and “Bike Right” trail etiquette messaging.

 

Water Hyacinth Removal from Willow Creek
Keep our waterways clean and help remove invasive aquatic weeds.

The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is a beautiful community treasure that enriches the lives of animals. Assist zoo staff with landscaping, gardening, yard work, painting/staining, and general clean-up of grounds.
